“In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
Excitement for the Gatsby Summer Afternoon bubbles like a sparkling summer brook, escaping like laughter. Images blossom of flitting from picnic blanket to table, donned with crystal and china, goblet in hand while the summer breeze gives just enough lift to our warming skin. Infectious music skims the air inviting dancers to join the circles of celebrants. I thought it was too good to be true. The stories sounded too promising, but the promise was real and the day was beyond delight. The parade of costumes, vintage autos and picnic displays were enchanting. New friends were everywhere, apple pie was the best we ever had, the sun sparkled in the sky.
Let your cares blow away like petals on the breeze because today is only for delights of the senses.
“That is part of the beauty of literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You Belong.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald
